Who's Sitting with Michelle O. at Tonight's State of the Union Address?

Via HuffPo: Two police officers credited with stopping last year's shooting rampage at Fort Hood will be guests of the first lady during Wednesday's State of the Union speech.

Sgts. Kimberly Munley and Mark Todd will watch President Barack Obama's address with Michelle Obama in a gallery overlooking the House floor. On Nov. 5, the officers, who were civilian members of the Fort Hood police force, opened fire on Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who is accused of killing 13 people in the worst mass murder on a U.S. military base. Munley was wounded in the incident at the Texas base.

An administration official also said Jill Biden, the vice president's wife, invited Julia Frost, a former Marine trumpeter whom Mrs. Biden met when visiting Coastal Carolina Community College. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because the White House had not yet released the full list.

The official also said Mrs. Obama would sit with Trevor Yager, an openly-gay advertising executive from Indianapolis whose agency grew by more than 200 percent and doubled the number of employees. The official says Yager credits Obama's approach to business and the $787 billion economic stimulus measure.

First Lady Michelle O. Satisfied with The Obama's First Year...

Michelle Obama won't give herself a grade for her inaugural year in the White House, but she is pleased with her debut and promises there's more ahead.

"I'm a 110-percenter," she said Wednesday, "and, yes, we can do more." Nothing -- not an episode, an event or an outfit -- would merit a "redo," she told reporters in answer to question.

Not even last year's infamous gate-crashers? "The state dinner was an outstanding success," she judged, dismissing the three uninvited guests at the Nov. 24 gala for India's prime minister as a "footnote."

Obama, who turns 46 on Sunday, spoke from the White House a week out from the first anniversary of her husband's inauguration. In an hourlong interview with seven reporters, she recapped a year with visits to 14 states, eight foreign countries and six military bases and with 200-plus events at the White House.

She touted her beloved garden, saying it had produced 1,000 pounds of food, as well as the White House bees, which were credited with 100 pounds of honey.

The first lady said, though, that she was most pleased by getting Malia, 11, and Sasha, 8, settled. "I was just really worried about these little girls and whether they'd feel good starting this new school and living this new life," she recalled.

Only in March could she breathe a sigh of relief, when the girls came home from school and said: "Mom, this is OK. This feels like home."

Michelle O. Making an Appearance on The Iron Chef on The Food Network

First lady Michelle O. filmed a cameo appearance for The Iron Chef at the White House in late October 2009.

via The Washington Post:
On "Iron Chef," food superstars White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford, Mario Batali, Bobby Flay and Emeril Lagasse meet in Washington for a trip to the White House. The first lady, whose domestic agenda includes promoting healthy eating, shows up in a theme-appropriate orange dress reminiscent of a crisp vegetable. She informs the chefs that the secret (and required) ingredient for the food competition -- in which three judges decide whose dishes are most delicious -- is anything in the White House garden.

"It's doing something fresh and doing something seasonal that every average and regular American can do in their home," Comerford explains about the garden in a clip provided by Food Network, which did not release an advance review copy of the episode. (Presumably to prevent spoilers: Can Comerford, who has worked at the White House for 14 years, and Flay take down Lagasse and Batali in the contest?)

I look forward to seeing that episode airing Sunday, January 3, 2010 (thanks Germaine :)
